The Consonance Between Me and a Sack of Potatoes

There is a sack of potatoes in the kitchen.
At the back, it warns:
“Keep me closed
for longer freshness!”

It reminds me I am just a sack of flesh;
that I, too, should remain closed
because the smell of rot is pungent
and I can only remain
fresh for as long as they don’t see
the Y-incision beneath my shirt.
