a poem by

Birds

The overhead wires get mixed up
in the branches of  trees that are
Utterly bare. Sunset like a barcode.

Imagine what the birds would do to us
If they had historical proof
Of just how good it used to be.
No need for discussion —
It just was. The sky was bigger.
